What is the NT Scan?
The NT (Nuchal Translucency) scan is performed between 11 weeks 2 days and 13 weeks 6 days of pregnancy. It measures the fluid at the back of the baby's neck (nuchal translucency) and — when combined with blood tests — calculates the risk of chromosomal conditions including Down syndrome (trisomy 21), Edwards syndrome (trisomy 18) and Patau syndrome (trisomy 13).

What is the Anomaly Scan (TIFFA)?
The anomaly scan (also called TIFFA — Targeted Imaging For Fetal Anomalies) is typically performed between 18–22 weeks. It is a detailed survey of the baby's anatomy — checking the brain, spine, heart, kidneys, abdominal wall, face, limbs and more. It also assesses the placenta position, amniotic fluid levels and cervical length.
